A family run 17th century free-house in the pretty village of Bridford, Devon. High in the beautiful Teign Valley we benefit from stunning countryside views and are in Dartmoor National Park. Only 9 miles from Exeter, we’re rural yet accessible.
Our range of cask ales include Dartmoor Jail Ale and we keep 3 other changing guest beers from a mix of local & national brewers – something for all tastes. Apart from our ales, we’re known for our Cider & Scrumpy Bar with 15 real ciders to choose from in addition to Thatchers Gold & Somersby. Our current range includes Orchard Pig, Weston’s, Lyme Bay, Moles, Cornish Orchards & Sandford Orchards. New on this season are Orchard Pig Marmalade, Lyme Bay Undercurrent and Sandford Orchards The General – not for the feint hearted at 8.4% !!
Our chefs freshly prepare all our food using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and it’s served in our relaxed and informal bar. We have an original menu which combines classic pub favourites with a few surprises, including vegetarian & gluten free options. See our range of Daily Specials too and try out our home-made Desserts, complemented by a range of Orange Elephant ice-creams & sorbets.
What Pub – say’s “High above the valley floor, there are panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the pubs’ gardens. With its stone walls, beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace, this is a gem of a pub, for not only do they serve good ales, food and traditional cider from various Devon and Somerset producers, but it also houses the village shop! There are four handpumps on the bar that are usually fully employed, but there is also a stillage behind the bar which can take a further two barrels on gravity. There is always something on at the Bridford.”
